For My Mama

A halo that reflects a life of wisdom, kindness, and caring.
Eyes that sparkle with pride
and show how much
she believes in you.
Shoulders that
have been slept on
and wept on and
carried a world or two.
Arms that never
run out of hugs.
Hands that know
just when to hold on
and when to let go.
A mind filled with
amazing things,
from fairy tales
to family tails
and long-ago stories of you.
A smile that can jump
right into your heart
and warm you faster than
hot chocolate.
A heart of gold
that holds more
love than you
can possibly imagine.

There is no way we can ever really thank our mother for all she does for us nevertheless we must make it a habit to keep reminding ourselves of the various sacrifices she made while raising us.Ma,We know that flowers and calls are not enough but let's just pray that time would come that we could see each other and give you our warm hug. Ma, we love you more than words can say. And We wish you a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.

Aging Parent

This come from my friend Rose-- it was sent to me in 2006 but I still keep it in my mail. I really treasure good e-mails and I still have tons in my inbox. Since I am blogging I decide to post it here so I could share it with anyone here and also perfect for today's celebration on Mother's Day..... Thank you dear friend for the
e-mails.

A story to ponder.....
After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take
another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said I
love you but I know this other woman loves you and
would love to spend some time with you.

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my
MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the
demands of my work and my three children had made it
possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner
and a movie.

"What's wrong, are you well," she asked? My mother is
the type of woman who suspects that a late night call
or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

"I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you," I
responded. "Just the two of us."

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I
would like that very much."

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up
I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I
noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our
date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had
curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had
worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an
angel's.

"I told my friends that I was going to go out with my
son, and they were impressed, "she said, as she got
into the car. "They can't wait to hear about our
meeting". We went to a restaurant that, although not
elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my
arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down,
I had to read the menu. Large print. Half way through
the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting
there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.

"It was I who used to have to read the menu when you
were small," she said.

"Then it's time that you relax and let me return the
favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation -
nothing extraordinary, but catching up on recent
events of each other's life. We talked so much that we
missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go
out with you again, but only if you let me invite
you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got
home. "Very nice. Much more so than I could have
imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart
attack. It happened so suddenly that I did to do
anything for her.

Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy
of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and
I had dined.

An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I
wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I
paid for two plates - one for you and the other for
your wife. You will never know what that night meant
for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying
in time: "I LOVE YOU!" and to give our loved ones the
time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more
important than God and your family. Give them the
time they deserve, because these things cannot be put
off till "some other time."

Pass this along to everyone with an aging parent, to a
child, to an adult, to anyone with a parent. Here's
hoping today is better than yesterday and tomorrow.

Mother's Journey

Since today is MOTHER'S DAY I will post blog about a Mom's journey--a credit to my cousin Ivy who sent this inspiring e-mail to me...Timing for the day mother's....
For those who are lucky to still be blessed with your Mother, this is beautiful.
For those who aren't, this story is even more beautiful.

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is this the longway?" she asked. And the guide said, "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning."But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, she fed them, and bathed them, and taught them to tie their shoes and ride abike and reminded them to feed the dog and do their homework and brush their teeth. The sun shone on them, and the young mother cried, "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."Then the nights came, and the storms, and the path was sometimes dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her arms, and the children said, "Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come." And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary too. But at all times she said to the children, "A little patience and we are there." So the children climbed, and as they climbed, they learned to weather the storms. And with this, she gave them strength to face the world.Year after year, she showed them compassion, understanding, hope, but most of all unconditional love. And when they reached the top they said, "Mother, we could not have done it without you."The days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old and she became little and bent. But her children weret all and strong, and walked with courage. And the mother, when she laydown at night, looked up at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned so much and are now passing these traits on to their children."And when the way became rough for her, they lifted her and gave her their strength, just as she had given them hers. One day they came to a hill, and beyond the hill, they could see a shining road and golden gates flung open And the mother said, "I havereached the end of my journey. And now I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk with dignity and pride, with their head held high, and so can their children after them."And the children said, "You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates."And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said, "We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence."Your Mother is always with you. She is the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She is the smell of certain foods that you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore. She is the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well. She is your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning.Your Mother lives inside your laughter, and she is crystalized in everytear drop. A Mother shows every emotion, happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow and all the while, hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life. She is the place you came from, your first home, and she is the map that you follow with every step you take. She is your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space, not even death.

Now pass this on to all the Mothers, Daughters and Sons that you know.May we never take our Mothers for granted.
