Britain's Got Talent singing 'I Dream A Dream'

Wow!!! Whatta Voice. I was stunned watching her singing this beautiful piece. This lady's name is Susan Boyle-47 years old from West Lothian, Scotland. She is a singer and church volunteer who came to public attention when she appeared as a contestant on the third series of Britain's Got Talent. Boyle found fame when she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables in the competition's first round first broadcast in the United Kingdom on 11 April 2009. Before she sang, both the audience and the judges appeared to express scepticism based on her unpolished appearance. In contrast, her vocal performance was so well received that she has been dubbed "The Woman Who Shut Up Simon Cowell".She received a standing ovation from the live audience, and unanimous praise from the judges.Watch her amazing performance which has captured the hearts of millions worldwide and you'll be the judge.....

Stuffed Mushrooms

I get this recipe from my hubby's cousin. She always make and serve this food whenever we have gatherings. I am a Filipino and I love my favorite food. Since I married Italian I had to adopt a little of their culture, and learn to eat the food that they love to eat, although "I must admit that I am not a pasta eater, lol but I am trying my best to eat some of their food. Anyways I will share this recipe to those who love cooking and and would try to learn cooking Italian dish.

Here's how:

24 white or cremini mushrooms with caps about 1 1/2 inches in diameter
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, plus more for the tops of the mushrooms if you like
½ cup finely chopped scallion
½ cup of finely chopped red bell peppers
½ cup coarse breadcrumbs
½ cup grated Parmigiano‑Reggiano cheese
1/4 cup finely chopped Italian parsley
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
½ cup Chicken Stock or low-sodium canned chicken broth
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup of dry white wine, optional

Preheat oven to 425 F. Remove the stems from the mushrooms and chop them fine.

Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the scallions and cook until wilted, about 1 minute. Stir in the red peppers and chopped mushroom stems and cook, stirring, until tender, about 3 minutes. Remove and cool.
Toss the bread crumbs, grated cheese, 2 tablespoons of the parsley and the sauteed vegetables until thoroughly blended. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stuff the cavity of each mushroom with the filling, pressing it in with a teaspoon until even with the sides of the mushrooms.
Using 2 tablespoons of the butter, grease a 12 x 18-inch low-sided baking pan. Arrange the mushrooms side by side in the pan and, using the remaining 2 tablespoons butter, dot the top of each mushroom with about 1/4 teaspoon butter. Add the wine, stock and remaining 2 tablespoons parsley to the pan. If you like, drizzle the tops of the mushrooms with olive oil. Bake until the mushrooms are cooked through and the bread crumbs are golden brown, about 20 minutes.
Serve the mushrooms on a warmed platter or divide them among warmed plates. Pour the pan juices into a small saucepan and bring to a boil on top of the stove. Boil until lightly thickened, 1 to 2 minutes. Spoon the juices over the mushrooms and serve immediately.

Serve these nice and hot, or let them cool to room temp. If you’d like to make this a little more contemporary, you can add a dash of balsamic vinegar to the red peppers and scallions as they cook. In true Italian-American style, these are topped with butter, if we made them in Italy, we would use olive oil. Best yet, maybe is to top them with butter, then ‘bless’ them all with a little olive oil.
This wonderful stuffing is delicious in celery stalks- bake them with a light tomato sauce. You can also line up blanched asparagus on a baking sheet, sprinkle the bread crumbs over them and bake them until the crumbs are crispy. I’m sure you can come up with a lot of uses for the bread crumbs. Remember, I give you the basics, but I want you to go play.

Some more pics around the pool also, was nice for swimming in, was not deep, and had a nice slope to walk down in places , so did not have to climb a ladder in,

and there was a bar also with cement stools you could swim over and sit and have a drink and mingle with outher guests or joke with the bar tender.Enjoy!!!
Thank you brother Steve for sharing this beautiful pictures to me. And also for allowing me to post it in my blog. I meet this friend of mine thru the internet in 2004, since then we e-mailed to each other, chat and even sends cards on occasion thru snail mails. He lives in Canada. When its cook I take it out from the pan and fry until brown then I put the sausage on top of the baked pepper.

Then I do the potatoes. Cooked it then put a little oil in the grill and put the potatoes until brown.
Simple food preparation when you are in a hurry.

Common Beliefs Men Have About Women

This was emailed to me by my cousin. I post it here to share it with you my friends in the blog world.

Belief #1:

SHE’LL NEVER BE SATISFIED.

Truth:
Women are always looking for ways to make things better. Don’t take her suggestions as complaints or criticisms, but as her desire to make the relationship or situation the best that it can be.

Belief #2:
A STRONG, CONFIDENT WOMAN DOESN’T NEED A MAN TO TAKE CARE OF HER.

Truth:
Everyone loves to be taken care of and to feel needed. Even if a woman can fix things around the house or change the oil in her car, she will still ask for your help so she can feel your strength, support and protection. Don’t ever stop asking, “What can I do for you?” because it shows her that you care.

Belief #3:
WOMEN ONLY WANT TO CONTROL MEN.

Truth:
It’s not about control; it’s about love. When a woman sees a man hurting, struggling or overwhelmed, her goal is to help, not control.
Let her give you a helping hand.

Belief #4:
KEEPING A WOMAN REQUIRES A LOT OF HARD WORK, TIME AND MONEY.

Truth:
A serious relationship requires time and effort to cultivate it. You shouldn’t look at it as a burden.
Your wife or girlfriend will reciprocate the effort you put into it.

Belief #5:
YOU CAN’T LIE TO WOMEN.

Truth:
Women are extremely capable of picking up moods and attitudes and can easily read body language and facial expressions. Although you may think that you have gotten away with a great lie, she is either letting it slide because she wants to keep the peace, or she is lying to herself because she’s afraid of the truth.

Belief #6:
JEALOUSY AND POSSESSIVENESS ARE A PART OF BEING A WOMAN.

Truth:
Women are protective of what belongs to them.
They protect the things they value, especially when it comes to relationships. It’s not that she doesn’t trust you; she is guarding the relationship.
You are too precious to her for her to allow anything bad to happen.

Belief #7:
WOMEN ARE EMOTIONAL.

Truth:
Women don’t hide their feelings.
They articulate what’s going on in their minds.
There’s nothing wrong with emotions—we all have them. Being in touch with their emotions causes women to be sensitive and caring, and that’s why men love them.

I am sure all you ladies out there agree with these common beliefs. Lets share it with our men. If all men and women share the same, common beliefs, the world will be such a lovely place to be and there will be less domestic violence. Cheers....

JESUS I TRUST IN YOU

An excerpts from the diary that was found in Sis. Faustina's bed before she died says; Our Lord appeared in a vision to a humble Polish sister, St. Faustina Kowalska, on February 22, 1931, and revealed His Divine Mercy for the world. Thru their conversation He instructed Sis Faustina to Paint an image according to the pattern you see with the signature: Jesus, I trust in you. I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel, and [then] throughout the world.I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over [its] enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory.
The two rays denote Blood and Water
The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls. These two rays issued forth from the depths of My tender mercy when My agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross. agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the Cross.
The Feast of Divine Mercy
I want this image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter; that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy. On that day, the depths of My Divine Mercy will be open to all.
Whoever will go to confession and Holy Communion on that day will receive complete forgiveness of sin and punishment. Mankind will not enjoy peace until it returns to My Mercy.

Tomorrow Sunday is His Feast and He is inviting everyone!

Feeling Dizzy

OMG! I feel dizzy yesterday. I could not get up because if I stand seems things around me turns upside down. This was going for a long time and when i seek a medical help they say its vertigo. I research the said medical term and this means its a condition, also known as Meniere's disease, with recurrent vertigo accompanied by ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and deafness. Symptoms include vertigo, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of hearing (in the affected ear), and abnormal eye movements.
Meniere's syndrome or disease is due to dysfunction of the semi-circular canals (endolymphatic sac) in the inner ear.
The treatment of Meniere's disease usually includes medications (anticholinergic drugs, antihistamines, etc) to relieve the vertigo. Diuretics have been used to lower the pressure in the endolymphatic sac. The doctor prescribed me Meclizine (12.5 mg) that i would take 1 tab 3X a day. Gosh! i really hate medicines but can't help it. I just hope I would feel good so I will not be taking it. Because the effect after taking the medicine is you will feel sleepy and i don't like it, I could not do anything but sleep. Even yesterday, I miss posting my blog...

Latest Ted Failon's Wife Died

Trinidad Etong, wife of ABS-CBN news anchor Ted Failon Etong, passed away at 8:50 pm Thursday night after suffering from a gunshot wound to the head that her family said was self-inflicted more than a day earlier.
ABS-CBN vice-president for Manila Radio and Sports Division Peter Musngi, who was in the Intensive care unit (ICU) of the New Era Hospital in Quezon City where Trina was being treated, told DZMM that the patient's condition turned for the worse at 8:25 pm after her blood pressure went down.
He said at least six medical attendants tried to save the patient but nothing happened.
Musngi said Failon has called for a priest who will administer the final blessings for his 45-year-old wife.
"Ted is inconsolable," Musngi said. "He is both sad and angry."
Shortly before Trina’s death, members of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit arrested two of her relatives for alleged obstruction of justice.
Police are still investigating whether Trina committed suicide or was a victim of foul play.

FAILON'S WIFE IN CRITICAL CONDITION

This is the news Yesterday:

To the Filipinos he is known as Ted Failon is a news anchor of TV Patrol World and is a radio commentator on DZMM, the radio station of
ABS-CBN.

In 2001, Ted ran and won as congressman representing the first district of Leyte, but he only served one term, from 2001 to 2004, after which he returned to ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN news anchor Teodoro 'Ted' Failon said his wife was faced with a problem about "family finances" before he found her lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound in her head in one of the bathrooms of their house in Quezon City on Wednesday.

In an interview with Ces Drilon on Bandila, Failon said he talked with his wife 1:30 am Wednesday about the problem, and he tried to assure her that he could earn and recover whatever financial loss she may have incurred.

“It's all about the family's finances,” Failon said in the interview. He told her that since they both came from poor families, it should not be a problem.

“Kung ano man ang problema na iyan, kung pera man yan o anuman yan, kikitain ko lang iyan,” Failon said.

He said he tried to console his wife by saying, “Mommy, galing tayo sa wala eh, di pino-problema iyan.”

Failon said he also found that night a "sorry" letter from his wife indicating a financial problem

The letter said: "Papa, I'm so sorry, gustong-gusto ko pang magsabi sa iyo ng totoo pero hindi ko po alam kung papaano ko uumpisahan. Sobrang takot na takot po ako. Umalis po muna ako kasi hindi ko po kaya at nahihiya po ako sa iyong humarap. Sana po mapatawad mo ako, Papa. Sorry sorry Papa, -- Mama"

The couple failed to fully discuss the problem, but Failon said they agreed to meet again later on Wednesday.

At around 10:20 am, while Failon was still on board DZMM for his radio program, "Tambalang Failon at Sanchez," Failon said he was trying to call his wife but she was not answering her phone. He asked their household help to check on his wife and was told she was in the bathroom.

When he finally got to talk to his wife on the phone, Failon said his wife told him, “Papa, wala akong mukhang ihaharap sa iyo.”

'Pool of blood'

Failon said that was when he decided to leave early from his program and go home.

Upon reaching his residence in Tierra Pura subdivision in Quezon City, Failon said his wife had locked herself in the bathroom. He asked one of the maids to look for the key so that the door could be opened.

Asked what he saw, Failon said: "She was lying in a pool of blood."

Failon denied he had a physical fight with his wife and that he had hurt her early Wednesday. “Ni minsan (no)…," he said.

Failon said the gun his wife used in the apparent suicide was a licensed Walther PPK .380 which he owned.

He said he had taught her how to use it in case she had to defend herself, and that she knew where he kept the gun.

"It’s a licensed gun. Noong unang panahon pa, tinuturuan ko siya for protection sa bahay. At siyempre, alam niya kung saan nakatago iyan,” he said.

Asked about reports that he could be a suspect, Failon said: "I don't have to defend myself with that allegation."

Further questioning

Police authorities are still trying to determine whether the shooting was an attempted homicide or a suicide attempt.

As of posting, Failon and his lawyers had agreed to go to Camp Karingal for further questioning. Trinidad, 44, was still in critical condition at the New Era General Hospital.

Failon was accompanied to the police headquarters by his daughter, Kaye, his dzMM radio partner Korina Sanchez, and ABS-CBN Vice-President for sports Peter Musngi.

Failon, whose full name is Mario Teodoro Failon Etong, earlier underwent a paraffin test together with members of his household.

In a statement he issued early Wednesday afternoon, Failon said he rushed his wife to the hospital after seeing her lying in a pool of blood.

"Hindi ko na tinapos ang aking programa sa dzMM kaninang umaga matapos kong makausap ang aking asawa sa telepono. Kaya umuwi ako kaagad at natagpuan kong nakakandado ang pinto ng banyo,” he said. “Pinabuksan ko ang pinto at natagpuan ko ang aking asawa na duguan kung kaya't itinakbo ko sya kaagad sa ospital."

Not a suicide note

Police Superintendent Frank Mabanag, chief of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the "sorry" note of Trinidad does not appear to be a suicide note.

Mabanag lamented that the household helpers of Failon cleaned the bathroom where Trinidad was found, and that Failon returned the gun in the bedroom instead of leaving the scene for the police to examine.

Mabanag said Failon and his household helpers could face a case of "obstruction of justice" for cleaning the scene of the shooting incident.

However, Mabanag said the two maids told police they were not told by Failon to clean the bathroom where Trinidad was found lying in a pool of blood.

Mabanag said they will also study the bullet entry, which was through the left temple.

Initial reports said the couple had an argument in Failon's car on Wednesday, but this was denied by Mabanag.

Still critical

In an interview Thursday over dzMM, Dr. Adonis Gascon, surgeon of the New Era General Hospital, said Trinidad was still in critical condition. Her vital signs were still unstable

He said Trinidad was not clinically dead as some media organizations (not ABS-CBN) earlier reported. Brain surgery was not an option, he added.

In a statement early Wednesday , ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. appealed to the public to respect the privacy of Failon’s family.

"We appeal to everyone to please respect the privacy of Ted Failon and his family," ABS-CBN corporate communications head Bong Osorio said. "His wife is fighting for her life."

Failon was negative in gun powder but he is still considered as suspect.

Pop-up Toilet

Have you ever seen a public toilet that only pops- up at night? For me this is new and one of a kind. This toilet is called UriLift, made of stainless steel cylinder that rises from the ground in two minutes and disappears just as quickly. This costs about $30,000 a piece and endorsed by the British Toilet Association, and have been popping up at night in two locations around Reading, a town west of London. A Dutch inventor named Marco Schimmel came up with the idea three years ago in order to "provide a unique solution for indiscriminate urination." It is installed four feet under the street, passersby see only a manhole in the day. When the night arrives, an officer standing within a few feet of the UriLift will activate the hydraulic motor via remote control. There is room for three men to use the sleek device at the same time, and it is lighted, though there are no doors. There's no need to worry about smell because the UriLift has its automatic flushing, which is connected to sewage mains for disposal of urine and flush water. Well this is just for the men, or for those who sometimes went to parties, drunk and sometimes on their way home looking for a toilet when they feel they are about to pee. I had an experience while in the Philippines that even if there is a sign "Don't Pee on this side". Sometimes, men if they could not hold on they will just pee in the bushes or hide in the fence or if its night in the wall at the back of the building or abandoned lot. This is not good for it creates bad smell, lol. My question is, those are just for the men how about the women? They too need this. Anyways, mostly of the women are shy and they just can't pee quickly just like the men do. I just wish that my country would also have this kind of urilift that Europe has. It is good and hygenic and don't create bad smell in areas where there are lots of passersby or areas like bus terminals, plaza's or where most people hangs out. Kailan kaya? Baka pangarap lang!

Installation of New Archbishop of New York

The New Archbishop of New York Timothy Dolan was formally installed today at 2:34 p.m. in a solemn but joyful Mass that was filled by clergy members, parishioners and leaders of the city’s political and business elites. In a 20-minute homily at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the biggest and longest round of applause — one that led to a standing ovation — came midway, after he spoke of the church’s mandate to “protect the dignity of every human person, the sanctity of human life,” specifically “the tiny baby in the womb.” Archbishop Dolan first thanked the assembled and especially Cardinal Edward M. Egan, his predecessor and New York’s archbishop since 2000. Part of Archbishop Dolan’s homily elicited laughs at various points, first when he hinted that the crowds were so plentiful because “everybody wants to take sanctuary on income tax day,” and later when he thanked his mother, Shirley. “We were afraid this morning that she might not make it,” he joked. “She heard that there was a sale on at Macy’s.” He is the 10th Archbishop of the Diocese of New York which is the 2nd largest Dioscese in the whole country serving 2.5 million Catholics.

Empanadas

I mentioned the other day in my blog that my easter greetings post is late because i was so busy.

Preparing the dough and filling for my empanadas. After which mold it like a half moon as you can see in the picture above. I bake it in the oven for 1 hr. at 375 degrees.

This is the finished product. I made 3 dozens all in all. 2 dozens chicken and 1 dozen pork.

This is my hubby's cousin's request from me, instead of bringing bunny cake. I should bring this, but we still bring the cake anyway. I am happy that they like it. In fact, the host called me today to tell me that she really like it and she told me its great. She hide some for her. I was grateful for her comment and seems i feel in heaven knowing that they appreciate what i did. Honestly i am afraid they might not like it, but anyway i just hope that i could make this a business in the future. I am planning to make a sample to taste and wish that i could put some one of the Italian Deli and Filipino store near us. Additional income for me aside from my work, Lol .

Praise Songs

Dear readers,
Yours truly is a Catholic by faith and since i am a devoted one. I join the whole christian world in celebrating the Holy Week. Tomorrow Holy Thursday and Good Friday, i will not be posting my blog instead i post here few of my favorite worship songs that always play when i have am doing self reflection. Although i always thank the Lord everyday for every blessings that i get from Him i feel that this is the perfect timing to return to him everything. That is why i am dedicating this songs to Him my saviour and my God. By Good Friday i will have my fasting which i am doing for 10 years now. My inspiration for doing this is when i join the EL Shaddai fellowship. Since i am here in the US i could not attend the worship, i think posting few songs would help a lot. For those who are not Catholic my apology. I know that you would understand me.

I just hope that by sharing this songs you would be blessed. I could share just the lyrics of the song but i was thinking that i would get the video would be interesting. Enjoy watching and listening.Have a good Holy Week everyone!!!!! See you after Easter....

Broadway Adventure

Actually me and my friends plan to go to Manhattan is to watch the broadway show Mama Mia since the said show is already sold and tickets were sold out we still fall in line at the ticket booth
to watch another show called the Marvelous Wanderettes. While we are on the line
i take a chance to take pictures of the streets and buildings in the broadway area. You can see

tall buildings with big billboards of the musical shows and opera across 46th street. My neck is aching looking at this tall buildings. Even if my i feel the pain i still continue taking photos while looking at this

people here waiting their turn to get to the ticket booth. The line was really long. And for us not to feel bored we decided to eat our burgers which we buy before we go to the line. After eating i take this picture at the steps of Duffy Square just on top of the broadway's ticket booth. Down this steps is the statue of Lt. Francis Duffy. He is a Catholic Priest of the 165th US Infantry Old 69th N.Y. Gee, it was snowing here that makes the pics blurry.I did not expect that at this Spring time it would fall. Anyway, it takes few minutes but so much cold. Anyway,At the back of this monument is the facts about Lt. Francis Duffy. Just click the pic if you want more info. Facing this monument is the famous Time Square. During New Year lots of people New Yorkers and tourist flock at this area to witness the dropping of the ball on New Years Eve. If you see it at a closer distance on top of this building is the ball and on the middle is the clock where people watch the time. At last we were able to buy the ticket that we are waiting. At exactly 3 pm was the show. This is my first time to watch live show. The price is reasonable as we are able to get 50% discount. I thought it is boring because the musical show features the song of the 50's but i am wrong we did enjoy it. It was a great experience.
